HOW complicated do you think it is?

Getting from point A to B in tidal conditions, with marinas accessible only during certain hours, using ferry-glide techniques with the help of currents, dealing with a compass heading that’s completely different from your destination, factoring in currents, and navigating at night in marked areas—want to experience it all? Join us and try it for yourself!

Proposed route

The proposed route is indicative and will be adapted to suit the weather conditions, the tides and the crew’s level of experience. Depending on the time the participants arrive, we may begin on the very first day with manoeuvres and practical exercises in the marina or nearby.

During the course, we will explore areas representative of navigation in The Solent, UK, such as Southampton, The Hamptons, Portsmouth and the Hamble River. We will focus on practical sailing in tidal waters, route planning, interpreting specific information and applying COLREG, including when sailing at night, weather and schedule permitting.

The route and stops will be determined and adjusted as we go along, depending on sailing conditions and the practical objectives of the session.
