HOT - Hands On Tide - Intensive tidal practical boating course suitable for advanced level sailors wishing to take their sailing to the next level or to take a Yacht Master course. Groups of maximum 5 students + certified instructor, 6 days, The Solent, UK.
Mile Building - 7 days of almost non-stop offshore sailing in a programme of charters, accumulating nautical miles in an unforgettable experience.
Career & Crew - Practical course to acquire the skills needed to access hostess and competent crew jobs in the charter industry. Employment opportunities appropriate to each level. Groups of maximum 6 learners + experienced sailing&hospitality instructor.

WHAT IS HANDS ON PRACTICE?
"Hands-On Practice" is a phrase taken from the English language, which has no exact translation into Romanian, and which means involvement direct and practical in an activity, instead of just learning in theory.
Refers to experience gained through physical action, manipulation or practical application of knowledge.
Sailing is a physical, skill-based activity that cannot be fully learnt through theory alone. The emphasis on actual, hands-on practice ensures that students develop the necessary skills, muscle memory and confidence to manoeuvre a boat in real conditions.
Definition:
Hands-On Practice (/hændz ɒn ˈpræktɪs/) - - noun - active participation in learning or instruction through direct physical experience rather than theoretical instruction.
Each Capetan course is based on a carefully designed programme that emphasises the following:
- Developing practical skills - Sailing involves complex manoeuvres such as tacking, jibing, trimming sails and mooring. These require direct involvement and practice to master.
- Muscle memory - It is only through repetitive experience and direct practice that the ability to react instinctively to changes in wind, waves and boat movement improves.
- Decision-making under pressure - Through various scenarios, students learn how to make quick and informed decisions, adjusting the sails, rudder and balance of the boat in real, dynamic conditions.
- Understanding the feel of the boat on the water - No theoretical lesson can replicate the feeling of wind shifts, the tension in the sails or the boat's resistance in the water. Direct practice helps sailors to intuitively 'feel' these factors.
- Safety and emergency response - Dealing with real-life scenarios such as equipment breakdowns, recovering a man overboard and sudden weather changes builds confidence and prepares sailors for unexpected challenges.
- Boost self-confidence - Actively manoeuvring a boat favours independence and autonomy, essential for becoming a skilled sailor.
