What is a PAN PAN Call?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A \"PAN PAN\" call is a standard international distress signal that anyone on a ship, aircraft or other craft can use in radio communications. It is used to declare an emergency condition on board a vessel, indicating that there is a situation that is not immediately life-threatening but requires assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When making a PAN PAN call, it is crucial to follow a specific format and provide all the necessary information. This allows the receiving party, such as the Coast Guard, to understand the nature of the situation and provide appropriate assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using VHF-DSC Configured Systems<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Always use Channel 16, set the power and volume to maximum, press the button and say your message. After releasing the button, wait for instructions from the Coast Guard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you do not have access to a VHF, you can still send a \"PAN PAN PAN\" call using your phone. Use the same call format as described above. Don't forget to use the international emergency numbers, which vary depending on your location. For example, in France the number is 196, while in most of Africa it is 999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
